Could Olivia Wilde Make Oscars History with 'The Invite'?

A Potential Milestone

Olivia Wilde could become the first woman in the 98-year history of the Academy Awards to receive both acting and directing nominations for the same film. While male filmmakers like Clint Eastwood and Kevin Costner have previously achieved this feat, no female director has successfully earned acting and directing nods for a single project.

The Contender

Wilde’s third feature, *The Invite*, an A24 production, has emerged as a significant awards season contender. The film, adapted by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, stars Wilde alongside Seth Rogen, Edward Norton, and Penélope Cruz. Industry analysts highlight her dual contribution as a key factor in her current awards momentum.
