New Visibility for Public Servers
Starting in November and December, Discord will begin indexing content from large, "discoverable" servers to make conversations searchable via Google. This initiative aims to unlock information currently trapped within private community channels, similar to public message boards.
Impact and Controls
This change applies exclusively to servers with over 1,000 members. Usernames and avatars will be excluded from search results to preserve anonymity.
How to Manage Privacy
• **For Admins:** You can opt-out your entire server or specific channels via "Server Settings" under the "Web Presence" tab.
• **For Users:** If you wish to exclude your personal messages from these web previews, navigate to "User Settings," select "Data and Privacy," and disable "Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages."
Users can verify these settings within their app interface.
